Alongside our advisory work, Wyella has designed and built a commercial-operational intelligence platform. It links commitments such as contracts, supplier obligations and compliance duties to what is happening in operations, maintenance, engineering, HSSE and commercial teams. James Maguire

Founder & Managing Director · Calgary, Alberta

James brings technical depth and business transformation experience to every engagement. His career spans oil, gas and chemicals from upstream to downstream, major capital projects and digital platform development. He has worked on both sides of the table, as the operator living with the systems and as the advisor changing them.

Programme delivery. Transformation programmes delivered successfully, from small engagements to more than $50M.
Business transformation. New business models implemented, delivering more than $10M in operating cost savings. Operating model, operational readiness and capital-to-operations handover for major energy projects.
Technical integration. Integration programmes that removed more than $20M of redundancy across IT estates.
Data and architecture. Asset data models, integration contracts, governance and quality for operations and maintenance.
Systems and digital. Evaluation and selection of project controls, contract management and maintenance systems, and recovery when implementations stall.
Built, not just advised. Designed and built Wyella's operational intelligence platform end to end: more than 15 applications and over 850 logged design decisions covering simulation, digital twin, maintenance and integrity, permit-to-work and commercial intelligence.
